DIY Double Cat Bed – an elevated feline relaxation platform.
This simple and affordable design is a great way to give your cats a gift. Many cats prefer to rest a little “above” their surroundings, and this DIY cat bed has room for two. Made with sturdy mesh fabric and rugged PVC, this cat bed should last for years of use.
In addition, this is an easy home DIY project to build.
Just connect a few pipes, 4-way fittings, and elbows together; and you’ll soon have a cozy and comfortable place for your cats to sleep!
Ideal for: cats, cat owners, and small pets.
Ready to build your own? Great! Just check out the DIY build guide and diagrams below to get started.
Instructions
A note before starting.
Please understand - the below diagrams are genuinely and carefully designed to help you navigate the build process. However, we don’t include specific recommendations for which tools, hardware, and products to use, and so on. These truly are “DIY” designs.
We do, however, have a few generic recommendations for working with PVC.
And as always, please be safe!
Step 1
First up: the bottom frame.
To start, first gather all the pieces you’ll need using the diagram above as a guide.
Then, go ahead and connect all the individual pipes and elbows in the manner pictured above. These should all just slide right into each other.
Once you’re done, go ahead and set your finished bottom frames aside for now.
Step 2
Now, you’ll want to join both your seats together.
For this step, attach both of your seats to four 12” tubes, as pictured above.
Step 3
Next, the upper frames.
Assembling these will be similar to assembling your bottom frames. Grab all your necessary pieces, and then attach them using the diagram above as a guide.
Step 4
Almost done!
Now, it’s time to put it all together.
You might want to lay your middle part (the bed) on it’s side to make this step easier.
Finally, go ahead and attach all your finished parts together. When you’re done, you should have a double cat bed that looks just like the picture above.
And that’s it! Great job.
We hope your cats appreciate it too!
