Instructions
A note before starting -
Please understand - the below diagrams are genuinely and carefully designed to help you navigate the build process. However, we don’t include specific recommendations for which tools, hardware, or products to use. These truly are “DIY” designs.
As such – a significant portion of the build-process will be up to you, the builder. So please know, there is no “right” or “wrong” way to assemble any of our designs! If you need to depart from the instructions, or rearrange things along the way, feel free to.
The only thing we ask: please be safe! And of course, there’s no shame in asking an expert for help or seeking guidance from your local professionals at any time.
And please: enjoy the process!
All heavy-duty plant stands need sturdy bases. So let’s start there.
To start, check the above diagram to see which materials you’ll need for this step.
Once you’ve gathered your materials, lay them all out on a level floor or working surface, in the manner pictured above.
You should have eleven boards lined up side-by-side, framed at the ends by the two pieces. Now, you’ll probably want to establish a measuring/marking scheme in order to ensure even spacing between your center boards before affixing them in place.
To finish your base, go ahead and connect all these pieces in a method of your choice.
Next up: your vertical posts.
For this step, you’ll want to attach all your vertical lumber pieces to your base.
In order to accomplish this, it might be helpful to turn the base on it’s side, clamp it in place, and attach the vertical posts in this fashion.
NOTE: in addition, you’ll want to use your horizontal lumber supports from Step 3 as a guide for exact spacing and measurement before attaching your vertical supports.
Now, you can install your lateral support.
First, measure vertically in order to ensure proper vertical placement of your supports. Each horizontal cross piece should be at the exact same height as the one across from it. This way, your plant stands themselves will be solid and level.
Once all eight of your horizontal supports are in place, the structure should look similar to diagram in Step 4 (below).
Almost there! It’s to install your top bases now.
For this step, you’ll need twenty pieces of 11.75” (1x2) lumber. Each plant stand top base consists of five of these pieces each.
Go ahead and attach five of these per plant stand, making sure that each piece is evenly spaced. (it might help to measure out exact distances for these before affixing them)
And that’s it!
Your plants just got a stylish new place to hang out.
We hope they enjoy it as much as you do!
