Instructions
A note before starting -
Please understand - the below diagrams are genuinely and carefully designed to help you navigate the build process. However, we don’t include specific recommendations for which tools, hardware, or products to use. These truly are “DIY” designs.
As such – a significant portion of the build-process will be up to you, the builder. So please know, there is no “right” or “wrong” way to assemble any of our designs! If you need to depart from the instructions, or rearrange things along the way, feel free to.
The only thing we ask: please be safe and use glasses and gloves while building. And of course, there’s no shame in asking an expert for help or seeking guidance from your local professionals at any time.
And please: enjoy the process!
You'll grab your 1x3" lumber for each shelf, one 1x3" long, three 1x3" where each part should be 24" long and two 1x3" cut at 9.5" long.
First grab your 1x3" and 9.6" long and affix them to the 22" lumber. Assemble them in a basic butt joint. You can add glue around the edges for extra support. Use 1 1/2” nails to put the parts together.
Once you have this part ready, bring your three 24" long lumber and place them evenly on the top of the piece you assembled. You’ll do this same step on your other two shelves.
We recommend that you sand and varnish each shelf for a better finish. This should have dried by the time you finish the next step.
Make sure to use your protective gear during the process.
We will now move on to the steel structure, for this step we will need three 1/2 " tee steel, five 1/2 x 2" Nipple Steel, five 1/2 " flange steel, two 1/2 x 11" nipple steel, four 1/2 x 4" nipple steel, and two 1/2 " elbow steel.
Grab your 1/2 x 11" Nipple Steel and place on each end a 1/2 " tee steel , then add the second nipple steel and add the last nipple steel.
Then screw the 2" nipple steel to the tee steel, then add to the steel the flange steel.
Now grab your 1/2 x 4" nipple steels and screw them into the tee steel and add on each end a 1/2 " elbow steel and again a 1/2 x 4" nipple steel. You'll do this on each end. Finally, add the flange steel. You'll do this step twice.
Now, we will affix the steel structure onto the wooden shelves. Mark centered on each side of the wooden shelf where you will screw the flange steel; drill carefully. Use 3/4 " screws.
Once you've affixed all the shelves, you'll now use the 3/4 " screws to place it on the wall.
