Building Plans for a Childs Play House

How do you know which part is which from the parts list? Click on "Edit Design in 3D" button above and you'll be able to click on each part to see its name.

Step 1: Main Structure Assembly

The main structure of the playhouse consists of four vertical 2x4 posts arranged as follows:

For the front frame:

  • You will need two 2x4 posts with a length of 65.5". These posts will be joined by a 38" 2x4 profile, positioned at a height of 37.5".
  • Perpendicular to the front frame and on the 38" profile, a 37.5" profile will be placed. It will be separated from the left side by a 3.5" long 2x4 profile, located at the bottom of the frame (profile number 6).

For the rear frame:

  • Two 2x4 posts with a length of 43.25" will be placed. These posts will be joined together by a 45" 2x4 profile, positioned at the upper end to support the roof structure.

As you progress through the tutorial, these two frames will gain rigidity. The first step in joining them together is to place a 35.5" 2x4 profile on the left side of both frames. This profile should be positioned at a height of 21.25" and will mark the bottom length of the playhouse.

Follow these instructions carefully to ensure a sturdy and well-built playhouse structure. Let's move on to the next step!

Step 2: Roof Structure Assembly

In this stage of the construction process, we will focus on the upper frame or roof structure. This structure is crucial for supporting the roof and ensuring the safety of the playhouse. To build the roof frame, you will need the following materials:

  • 2 profiles of 2x4 with a length of 45"
  • 2 profiles of 2x4 with a bird's eye cut, inclined at a 30-degree angle and measuring 51" in length

To assemble the roof frame, start by placing the 45" profiles at the ends. This will allow you to visualize the frame with the actual dimensions of the roof. Next, position the profiles with the bird's eye cut, ensuring that the angled sections are supported by the rear frame (which has a smaller size). The front part of the new roof frame will be supported by the front posts (which have a larger size).

Well done! You now have a complete structure ready to be covered on the sides and roof. This brings you closer to creating a fully functional and aesthetically pleasing playhouse for your children. Let's move on to the next step to continue building the playhouse.

Step 3: Covering the Front and Back Sides

Now it's time to cover the front and back sides of the playhouse. This step will involve using specific materials. For the front face, you will need:

  • 3 profiles of 1x6 with a length of 47"
  • 7 profiles of 1x6 with a length of 10.5"
  • 2 profiles of 1x6 with a length of 6.5"
  • 3 profiles of 1x2 with a length of 6.5"

For the back side, you will cover it with 7 profiles of 1x6 with a length of 47".

To ensure accurate placement of the profiles, please refer to the provided diagram. Additionally, you can use the 3D model for further guidance.

During this step, we will not only be covering the faces of the playhouse but also clearly marking the spaces for the front windows and the main access point to the house. This will give the playhouse a defined and structured appearance.

Take your time to align and attach the profiles correctly, following the designated spaces. This will bring us closer to creating a complete playhouse for your children to enjoy. Let's move on to the next step for further progress.

Step 4: Covering the Sides and Roof

In this stage of the construction process, we will proceed to cover the sides and the roof of the playhouse using the following materials:

For the sides:

  • 5 profiles of 1x10 with a length of 47"
  • 6 profiles of 1x6 with a length of 18.75"
  • 8 profiles of 1x6 with a length of 40.5"
  • 8 profiles of 1x6 with a 30-degree cut and a length of 47"

To begin, start assembling the sides from the bottom to the top. It is crucial to follow the provided diagram closely to ensure the correct placement of each piece. The profiles with a 30-degree cut can be easily identified and their exact dimensions can be determined by referring to the accompanying 3D model.

Take your time to arrange the wooden profiles in such a way that the necessary window openings are formed on both sides of the playhouse. This will allow for natural light and ventilation within the structure.

By carefully following the diagram and utilizing the 3D model for reference, you will be able to successfully cover the sides and roof, bringing us closer to completing the playhouse project. Let's proceed to the next step for further progress.

Step 5: Final Touches

Congratulations, you're almost done with the construction process! In this last step, we will assemble two main frames that play important roles in the access and facade of the playhouse. Let's begin:

For the first frame, you will need:

  • 2 profiles of 1x6 with a length of 42.5"
  • 1 profile of 1x6 with a length of 35.5"

To assemble this frame, place the 42.5" profiles at each end of the opening for the main access. Then, position the 35.5" profile on top of these two profiles. This will form the main access frame, providing a designated entry point for the playhouse.

Moving on to the second secondary frame, which will serve as a window and contribute to the main facade. You will need:

  • 2 profiles of 1x2 with a length of 41.5"
  • 1 profile of 1x2 with a length of 17.25"

Once this frame is assembled, place it on the left end of the main access frame. This secondary frame will add visual appeal and functionality to the playhouse.

To shape the window on the facade, gather the following materials:

  • 4 profiles of 1x4 with a length of 13.25"
  • 3 profiles of 1x2, one with a length of 35.5" and the other two with lengths of 11.25".

Refer to the provided diagrams to ensure the correct arrangement of these profiles, allowing you to create the desired shape for the doors and windows.

With these final touches, your new playhouse is now complete! It will undoubtedly bring joy to the little ones, and you can take pride in providing them with a safe and enjoyable space. Well done on completing this project!
